Where ideas flow.

Fireside Reading

“Dear friend, what

do you make

of love?”

“Hmm? What’s that?”

“Love. What do

you think

it is?”

“Well, I’d say,

‘tis naught but a

simple reaction one

feels with attraction

to one of the

opposite sex.”

“That is all?”

“Yes, good sir,

I do believe so.”

“Hmm.”

“Hmm?”

“Yes, hmm.”

“Have you a

different thought?”

“Not so much

thought as

a feeling.

A feeling that

love

 is much more

than simple reaction

 to lusty attraction.”

“Enlighten, then,

good friend.”

“Love… is a feeling.”

“A feeling, you say?”

“Indeed.”

“Like what you

are feeling now?”

“No, no, you

misunderstand.

Allow me

to rephrase:

Love is a

feeling that

stems from

the soul. A

feeling so

strong that it

clouds up

your mind, yet

you still can see

clear as noon-day.

In this new

clarity

you come to

see you are

beholding the

most striking

of creatures.”

“So it is reaction

to base attraction.”

“No! Good sir,

‘tis not.

For you do

not see their

face, good sir.

You see their

very soul.”

“Their soul?”

“Their soul.”

“Truly?”

“Indeed – but there

is more to love

than that.”

“Explain.”

“Love begins as

feeling, yes,

but then it

starts to move.

Stirring in your

very soul,

compelling you

to move.

No longer can

you tarry or

sit idle and alone.

Compelling you

to action, sir,

that is the

nature of love.”

“And what actions

would such love entail?”

“Why, a myriad,

my good sir!

Love compels us

to care

to hold

to laugh

to cry

to dance

to sing

to jump

to fall

to hope

to wish

to sigh

to forgive:

These are but

drops in the

bucket of

actions of

love.”

“Most int’resting,

friend –  this concept

of love.”

“Truly it is.”

“Yes, truly indeed.”
