Who Has Seen the Wind?
I thought I’d change pace here and share one of my favorite poems. I first read it when I was a freshman in High School, and it left a lasting impact on me – it even inspired some of my own writing. For a poem so short and simple, it conveys so much detail and depth that I’m always left amazed how one could capture the essence of the wind in just ten lines.
But Christina Rossetti did, and she captured it with fluid grace.

Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves hang
trembling,
trembling,
The wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down
their heads,
their heads,
The wind is passing
by.
~
Christina Rossetti 1830-1894

I love this…the conciseness is lovely. The imagery is enchanting… Thanks for sharing :)

Isn’t it? You’re most welcome. :)
And I’m fairly sure this poem was inspired by John 3:8. If not directly, then at least partially.
