Symphony of the Goddess
It’s that time again,
The time for pomp and cheer!
It’s that time again,
Musical Monday is here!!!

Haha! Hello all! I do hope you have had another fantastic weekend – or at least as fantastic as mine. ;P
You see the new Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, came out yesterday, which is big. Really big. Especially if you consider that this year marks the series 25th Anniversary. That’s right, it’s been 25 years since Link first picked up his sword to slay evil and save the princess.
Personally, I have been with the series since the Super Nintendo days (ie, the early 90′s), and have played every Zelda game I could get my hands on (there’s really nothing quite like them). So, being a lifelong fan, I was completely stoked to get the latest game, and picked it up as soon as I could. I now own the game, and have played it (only a few hours), and am in love with it, but there’s something else I am quite in love with.
The music.
Bundled with the first shipment of the game is a CD with some of the series biggest songs on it. These songs (there are 8 of them) have been recomposed in celebration of The Legend of Zelda’s 25th Anniversary, and are performed by a Symphonic Orchestra, which is currently touring the United States performing what has been called “The Symphony of the Goddess.”
The first thing I did upon obtaining my copy of the game, I opened it, and played the CD in my car.
I was floored.
The music is simply stunning.
All 8 of the tracks are phenomenal, but I will share with you my personal favorite:
As the title suggests, this is a medly of various pieces from the game Twilight Princess, which, in my opinion, has the most epic music out of the entire series - and I think the people behind this movement agreed, for they took an already stellar lot of songs and amplified them to a whole new level of epic. Seriously, words cannot describe how blown away I was (and am) by this symphonic movement.
After listening to this CD (several times already), I now desperately want to go to the concert to see the Symphony perform live. They’re actually coming to Dallas (which I don’t live too far away from), but I told myself that it was okay not to go, because I’m a poor college student and because it’s just Zelda songs, that I’ve heard all the songs before, and that I can listen to them online.
But I was wrong…. *headdesk*
Haha! But I’ll live if I don’t go. :P
Thanks to you all for taking the time to listen and read, but I don’t think this post would be complete without one more song.
It is the main theme of Skyward Sword, and it is the last track on the CD – which, to me, is fitting, considering the series (and it’s music) can only go skyward from here.
Peace, my friends. :)

You have made me look at video games in a whole new way. The music is amazing.

I’m happy to have been the one to open your eyes. It’s such a beautiful genre of music. :)

Aaaaaaaaaaahh. Why you try to tempt me into playing all the games?!?!
I too am a poor … well, not student, but to-be traveller! And I should not be considering buying all the games that I have consoles for! I’ve had Ocarina of Time on my mp3 favorites for ages, even though I’ve never played so much as a full level in any Zelda game. But this takes it to a whole new level, like you said. If only I had more time!

Because I am an evil, evil man. :P
Haha, poooor, Beth. And you have OoT music on your mp3 player?!?! How did I now know this before???
And yes, gaming takes up time. I just played Skyward Sword for an hour, and now I must do school. Dx
