Faith of a Fool
His heart yearned for her, for her sweet embrace; all he wanted was to hold her in his arms, to feel her heart beat against his own, to feel her hair against his cheek, to brush her face with his hand… but that would never happen… it couldn’t ever happen. No matter how much he wished, no matter how much he prayed, no matter how much he wanted to be real to her… she could never be his – Fate was against him, making a cruel joke of his love. But despite that, despite all odds, he would still love her.
No matter what.
No matter how impossible it sounded, no matter how much Fate hated him, no matter how much the world laughed at him, he would still love her!
Because she was real to him.
Because he could still feel her hair between his fingers… her soft lips upon his brow…
He would still believe… because he loved her.

Perfect.

Are we going to get to see more of this?? Or are you just taunting us again?
December 3, 2011 at 12:11 pm
Taunting implies that I purposefully set out to make you want more of what you know you can’t have. :P
So no, I’m not “taunting” you, per se, but I have no plans to move forward with this. You know I like to write little one-shot scenes like this, so I don’t want to hear it. ;P

I am glad you liked it though! ^_^

Sometimes the journey is ever so much more delectable than the destination. Bits and blurbs are just morsels of deliciousness in that journey. Arriving at the destination, the end of the story, can be a rude awakening from a perfect dream. :)

Couldn’t have said it better myself, Debbie! ^_^

Ahhhh… I think we’ve all been there, at some time, at some place. Nice writing Tim, you had me reading to the end (and I have a very short attention span :-)).
December 3, 2011 at 3:06 pm
Indeed, I think we all have. And thank you! I’m glad I captured your attention. :)

So beautifully written, Tim…sad ending, but some of those make the best words of art! :)
December 4, 2011 at 12:40 am
Thanks, Lauren! It is sad, but I believe there is beauty in sadness. That’s why so many people love rainy days…
December 4, 2011 at 12:57 am
True, and I am one of those odd people who love rainy days, too! :)
December 4, 2011 at 11:30 am
You and me both, my friend. :)

This is what I can call “Unconditional Love”, which is very rare to find nowadays. I felt his love in your story. Awesome and it was lovely written :)
December 4, 2011 at 2:06 am
That is so true.
Glad you felt the love! :)

December 9, 2011 at 1:01 pm
You really should think about a novel. Maybe if you hear it enough? Another wonderfully written piece.
December 7, 2011 at 1:49 am
Haha, well, perhaps this voice can be that of an existing character in an existing novel. ;P
Thank you, though!!! :)
