Where ideas flow.

Stars

I felt the stars beneath my feet

as I ran, alone, through the night;

heart pounding, lungs heaving,

not thinking, just leaving.

With all of my might,

I ran through the night –

the stars, they carried my feet.

 ~

I felt the stars uplift my wings

as my feet left ground and met air;

hair flowing, not knowing,

just jumping, just going.

Not a thought, nor care,

my feet met the air –

the stars, they lifted my wings.

 ~

I felt the stars caress my flesh

as I swam though the cloudless sky;

eyes searching, heart yearning,

wind tearing, head turning.

Mind wondering “why?”

I swam through the sky –

the stars, the warmed my cold flesh.

~

I heard the stars whisper my name

as I rushed through the void with fright;

soul calling, enthralling,

mind reeling, heart falling.

Blinded with fright –

the night stole my sight! –

The stars, they whispered my name.

    That’s absolutely beautiful. My favorite part about it was the back and forth swaying of the meter. It *almost* felt like a nursery rhyme in its dreamishness. Nicely done (again)!

    • Haha, it does feel a bit that way, doesn’t it?

  2. This is absolutely gorgeous! As I write some very fine renaissance lute playing is coming across on the radio… so fitting, such synchronicity. The stars really should whisper your name, fantastic stuff.

  5. I love the parts about just moving, not thinking. The mind’s tendency to second-guess decisions is a main cause of much of our turmoil. Sometimes it’s best to place our full faith in intuition. :)

    • Thank you, Miro! I agree, and I know from personal experience that overthinking is definitely a downfall of mine.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  6. The repeating of “The stars…” in the last line of every stanza evokes a dreamy sense of comfort, and the way it all ties together at the end is beautiful, I enjoyed reading.
