Winter in Italy
It’s that time again,
the time for pomp and cheer!
It’s that time again,
Musical Monday is here! (again)
~
Haha! Hello all! Thanks for stopping by this Monday (or whatever day you happen to read this)! I know it’s been a while since I posted a Musical Monday post, but today I felt I should get back into the groove of things. And today we’re going to listen to a work by Antonio Vivaldi, specifically “Winter” from his set of violin concertos, ”The Four Seasons.”
Now, as many of you already know, I am not well informed when it comes to classical music. I’m bad enough at trying to remember modern music, but when you throw in hundreds of years of composers and pieces, I can’t even begin to comprehend who wrote what.
With that said, I was actually searching for a different piece, when YouTube recommended this video for me to watch, and I instantly fell in love. I’ve never been a huge fan of the violin, but the violinist in this video is amazing, and the music is sublime!
So enjoy the music, my friends! And I hope you all have a wonderful week! ^_^

It’s a shame that this movement isn’t played as often as the Spring movement is. I also really love the Summer movement – lazy and slow and serene! (and I also, do not care much for solo violin!)

Well, I wouldn’t know, considering I’m ignorant to BAROQUE music. xP
Haha! That’s awesome.

Um, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. :D
Technically, this is Baroque music, the style of which was followed by the Classical period. Yes, I’m just being a smug little twit. :P It drives my coworkers crazy when I explain these things to them. “Really, Bethany? Why do you know this?” BECAUSEMYDADMADEMELARNITOKAY!??! Now I get to rub it in everyone’s face that I’m such a homeschooled kid! xP
I do love this piece. And you know what they say! If it’s not Baroque, don’t fix it! Bahahaha! Just some geeky humor for you.

By the way, you should listen to all four seasons.
You know, next time you have 42 minutes to spare. Or studying to do! Or writing! Just have Vivaldi as your background. :)
Autumn is my favourite. ^.^

I should! And I shall… eventually. ;P
And why does that not surprise me? xD

On to be in Venice! The Four Season are so popular they’ve become almost, well, too popular! Still love them, though. Interesting that summer is in a minor key and autumn in major, due perhaps to the Venetian experience of really hot sultry summers (with thunderstorms) followed by the relief of autumn. Lovely post.

I didn’t know that, David! That’s cool. Thanks for commenting! :)

Tim! I must say my favorite season of Vivaldi is Summer. I have all of my fathers records on old vinyl … and they are crackly and amazing! If I had to choose a favorite… I don’t think I could ;)
here is something you will enjoy!

Oh, Enreal, how cool! I’m sure those vinyls are treasured possessions. I should listen to the other seasons. :P
And yes! That’s a great piece! Thanks for sharing! ^_^
