Where ideas flow.

Reflection

Who am I to you?

You don’t know me,

you don’t own me.

After all is said and done

We’re always standing

at square one.

You never listen,

only hear –

I’m tired of fighting

to bend your ear!

I’ve made my point

perfectly clear,

but you don’t get it,

you don’t even care!

You say you do,

but those words mean

nothing – hollow phrases,

rattling with worn out words

tired of being assembled,

time after,

time after,

time after,

time.

Enough is enough!

I’m tired of your chimes.

I’m tired of screaming

and shouting and fighting,

of words that are

tearing and gnawing and biting.

I’m tired of all the

anger and spite,

but I don’t know how

to fix it right.

And so we go

without respite,

tearing us down,

night after night.

When will

the screaming

stop?

When will you realize

that I’m not the one

who is always wrong,

I’m not always wrong!

But you say I am, and you

shred me to pieces;

you build up these walls

and hide all your faces.

But enough is enough –

And I’ve had enough!

I’m tired of wasting

my breath on you.

I’m tired of trying at

last to break through.

Ripples in glass –

that’s all I’m to you.

Until you see that

you’re wrong in this too,

you and I, my friend,

are through.

  1. The Otter

This sounds like a song! I could see it being one…I really liked it. Very powerful. “Fighting to bend your ear…” love that! :D

    • Thank you, my Otter friend! ^_^ I suppose it does sound rather musical, eh? I never thought of that. xP

And yes, that was one of my favourite lines too. :)

  4. Uuuum… this isn’t the one written for me, is it? :P Because I would be officially worried.

Very striking, though. Fantastic rhythm. The Otter is right; this could be a song.

  5. you and i my friend, are done. some of the most liberating words from an ‘abused’ life….like where you are not appreciated and are always made to feel less of a person, these words open up a new world full of smiles and goodness, the only issue is we mostly take too long to say them but well, when we do….lovely piece Tim.
