Where ideas flow.

Mindless No More

Blank pages of thought

 ignite ‘cross the land,

a blazing inferno,

for none dare to stand

against the unknown

of what lies ahead;

they just bury their faces

in pictures instead.

Pictures of fame,

of splendor and wealth;

they live with no shame,

 all while the health

of their minds go to hell,

for indeed they are burning –

defiant indifference –

no one is learning

from the times now long past,

where champions did thrive;

a time of great thought,

where minds were not hives.

For creative thought once

blazed across our great land,

where greater than sword

was the pen in the hand

of a writer – a thinker –

who declared with great power,

that mankind would sit still

no longer one hour

while liberty and life

faced destruction and death

at the hands of the few

who held power and wealth.

But such courage is lost now –

the great minds are dead;

why think when others

can do it instead?

Ignorant fools

we all have become,

ignorant to

the prize that was won

by those who once dared

to think and to fight,

to rise and defend

life and liberty with might

far stronger than what

is now present this day,

for none has the courage

to stand up and say,

“Enough is enough!

We’re through with your games!

We’re tired of waiting

and wishing for fame,

of letting the wealthy

determine our fate,

for we are the people,

and we are too great

to be silenced once more

by your pictures and sounds

of things merely fleeting –

we’re standing on ground

far higher than you

could e’er hope to achieve,

for we hold the truth

and we dare to believe

that justice and life

will burn bright once again;

that sorrow and strife

will finally end.”

And when that time comes,

the people shall sing

together as one –

true freedom shall ring!

From atop every hill

and shining bright tower,

the chorus will sound,

for it shall be the hour

that mankind once more

shall reclaim their own minds

from indifferent thought,

and then they shall find

that freedom is not

an inherited right –

 ‘tis not freely given –

for it you must fight

with all of the strength

of your heart, mind, and soul,

together as one;

for together, I know

that we can achieve

what we have now lost –

we must only believe

in what matters most.

So rise up, my brothers,

my sisters, my friends;

have courage and faith

to hold and defend

the truth that’s now sinking

in corruption’s deep well –

start fighting, start thinking!

Together expel

the lies and the hate

that have poisoned our land.

Rise with me, together –

united we’ll stand!

 And from every corner of

 Earth, Heav’n, and Sky,

our voice shall be heard –

as one we shall cry,

“The time has now come

for freedom for all!

The end has begun and

the wicked shall fall!

Fear us, you few,

who dare to oppress

our freedom of life,

for we never shall rest

until you are cast out

and stripped of your power.

Hear as we shout,

that this is the hour!

The time of your ending

has finally come!

Vengeance is swift;

it has only begun.”

Vengeance is swift;

it has only begun.

      • Poeticinvocation had stopped by my blog which got me interested in stopping by his. Then I saw some comments on one of his poems (namely, yours) which made me want to visit you. Amazing how this whole blogging thing works, isn’t it? So, to answer your question … poeticinvocation. :D
