Do You Remember?
I miss you.
I miss the times we used to sit
huddled together, side-by-side,
imagining
all the things that we would do,
all the places we would go;
we promised ourselves,
you and I.
Do you remember?
I miss you.
I miss the smile you used to share
just with me, that special grin,
enlivening
every fiber of my being;
my breath would catch every time
and tears of joy would
shine for you.
Do you remember?
I miss you.
I miss the fire that used to burn
in your eyes, bright with life,
illuminating
all the dreams I never had,
until the day that I met you
and gazed into those
precious eyes.
Do you remember?
Because I do.
I miss you…

wow, this is so deep and well written. Genius…
Hope all is well there my friend. Still buried in studies, etc?

Thanks, Scott! And yes, I’m still buried in studies, and I’ve hardly had a chance to write because of it (my poor brain is fried half the time). But I’m in the final stretch! Just 3 more weeks and I shall be free ’til the fall!
Other than that, though, all is indeed well. Thanks for asking! I’ll try to hop on over to your site soon.

Oh, this is a beautiful tribute to a love you continue to feel!

Thank you, Janet. :) I actually wrote it with my grandparents in mind. My grandfather’s mental state is deteriorating quite rapidly, and it has been extremely hard on on my grandma. So this poem is from her perspective – and the perspective of anyone losing a loved one like that. I can’t even begin to imagine what she’s going through.

Just having a grandson, as sensitive and loving as you, will help your grandma through this. Give her a hug.

Haha, thanks, Janet. :) I will.

Lovely Tim! The repeat of “I miss you” is like an echo for a tear falling with each stanza.
